The GATE Foundation and Stores Raise $72,000 for JDRF in March!

Throughout the month of March, GATE gas stations sold JDRF paper sneakers for $1 each to raise money for JDRF.

While last year's GATE campaign raised an overwhelming $65,000 for JDRF, it was wonderful to hear that this year's totals were even HIGHER! Thanks so much to the GATE Foundation for recently presenting a check to us for $72,000! We are so happy to be putting this donation toward improving lives of people living with T1D and dramatically pressing forward research toward a cure. THANK YOU!

Tallahassee's 4th Annual Volunteer Walk to Cure Diabetes Sets Record!

The success of the Walk to Cure Diabetes in Tallahassee wouldn't have been possible if not for our dedicated volunteers who organized and led a memorable event on April 14th at Tallahassee Community College. Over 300 family and corporate teams joined the fun by participating in warm ups and enjoying a 2 or 3 mile walk. Following the walk, there was face painting, bounce houses, raffle prizes, and lunch for all to enjoy.

Congrats to Tallahassee for raising the most amount of money ever for diabetes research through their Walk - over $43,000 and still counting!

Trial Net Research Opportunities in Jacksonville

Trial Net is a global network of researchers in 150 locations within 18 countries dedicated to the study, prevention, early detection and early treatment of type 1 diabetes.

Did you know that a simple blood test could detect an increased risk for T1D months to years before symptoms appear? If you have a relative with T1D, you are at a higher risk of being diagnosed yourself compared to a person with no family history of the disease.

While funding is essential for research, participation in research is also vital in finding, "The Cure." T1D has been cured over 200 times in mice, but researchers can only learn so much from non-human subjects. Please consider participating in research opportunities.

Email Leslie Burkhalter, UF Clinical Recruitment Coordinator at lburkhalter@pathology.ufl.edu or call (904) 463-8604 for more information.
